Benefits of Moodle LMS explained
Support for all online learning formats
There are many various types of online learning, including fully online learning, blended learning, self-paced courses, collaborative learning, learning for school students, and learning for businesses. Additionally, Moodle supports all different sorts of learning processes and perspectives on online education because it was created by our worldwide community, which includes members from diverse industries and geographical regions.
Accept instruction from any device
Your students may access all of your information, submit activities, and finish assignments from their mobile devices using our Moodle App. They are always kept up to date with the help of mobile alerts.
Accessibility
We work hard to make Moodle inclusive and available to everyone. We carry out accessibility assessments and create in accordance with generally accepted accessibility standards as part of this (WCAG 2.1). With the complete support of all learners in mind, you can create courses and material with the aid of our integrated text accessibility testing tools.
Consider our security.
We are very serious about security. As an open source project, we have a vast community of individuals reviewing our source code and working together to improve its security using tried-and-true procedures. To ensure that fixes are applied to the most sites feasible, they are reported globally and applied to previous versions.
Maintaining your privacy:
With some of the greatest GDPR compliance available on any educational platform, you can customise your Moodle site to comply with your country’s privacy laws with our industry-leading privacy compliance capabilities.
Which username and password do I use for Moodle initially?
Our administration database provides your Moodle username so that your ArgoExpress enrollments may be connected to your Moodle enrollments.
Username: Your ArgoID (University-assigned Student ID Number) serves as your username. For example, A000XXXXX
Click “Forgot your username or password?” on the Moodle login screen and enter your ArgoID number or your email address to obtain a password reset link in your University Inbox. From there, you may establish a strong password.
We advise you to use the same safe password for Moodle and ArgoMail (12 characters, at least one of each type—at least one capital, one lowercase, one number, and one non-alphanumeric character).
Log in to Moodle
- Go to Moodle in your web browser by typing:
- Visit https://umass.moonami.com for Summer and Fall 2021 and after (Moodle in the Cloud).
- Visit https://moodle.umass.edu for courses beginning in Spring 2021 or earlier (Legacy Moodle).
- Select Log in with NetID from the Login box. On a wide screen, the login button will be visible in the upper right corner; however, on a phone, you might need to scroll down to see it. It will then launch the UMass Amherst Web Login page.
- Enter your NetID and password on the Web Login screen, then click the arrow to go, or hit enter or return on your keyboard. This website also contains links to password assistance resources. Upon returning to Moodle after successfully logging in, you will see your name and Moodle avatar in the user menu to the right of the screen.
Downloading and Setting Up the Moodle Mobile App
While it is advised that you access your Moodle coursework using a computer browser, you may find it more convenient to download the Moodle app on your smartphone or tablet. Please follow these instructions if you want to utilise the Moodle mobile app:
Download the app first.
Open your mobile device’s app store. Although each mobile operating system has its own shop, the most popular ones are Google Play (https://play.google.com/store) for Android products and the App Store (https://www.apple.com/ios/app-store/) for Apple products. The Moodle Mobile app is available from both shops for free.
Once the app store has loaded on your smartphone, look up “Moodle.” The “Moodle official app for mobile” label will appear on the application (all screenshots are from Apple iOS v15 for the iPhone). Follow the on-screen instructions on your smartphone to download the app.
Setting up the Moodle App
Open the Moodle app after it has been downloaded to your device. Your smartphone could urge you to decide whether or not you wish to receive alerts. When new information from your Moodle classes becomes accessible, you will receive notifications (like text messages or social networking pop-ups) on your device if you click “Accept.” You will only be notified of new course materials when you open the app on your device if you choose not to accept alerts.
The next step is crucial: either click the “Scan QR code” button or copy and paste (or enter) the website address https://elearn.nmc.edu. About halfway through inputting the web URL, NMC’s Moodle site should be available for choosing if you desire to do so. The QR code is located at the bottom of your Moodle profile page if you decide to scan it. You can access the NMC’s Moodle mobile site using either method. You just need to do this step once.
