Rajkotupdates.news : tata-group-takes-the-rights-for-the-2022-and-2023-ipl-seasons: In a recent development in the world of Indian Premier League (IPL), Tata Group has acquired the title sponsorship rights for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 23rd April 2023, marking a new chapter in the history of the popular T20 tournament.

Tata Group, one of India’s leading conglomerates, has a long and illustrious history of sponsoring sports events, including cricket. The company has been associated with the IPL for many years, having previously served as the official partner of several IPL franchises.

The announcement of Tata Group’s title sponsorship rights for the 2022 and 2023 IPL seasons comes as a major boost for the tournament, which has been grappling with sponsorship challenges in recent years. The BCCI had earlier terminated the contract of Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, as the title sponsor of the IPL in 2020, following tensions between India and China.

The IPL then went without a title sponsor for the 2020 season, before Dream11, an Indian fantasy sports platform, took up the rights for the 2020 edition. However, the BCCI decided not to renew Dream11’s contract for the following seasons, leading to a new round of bidding for the title sponsorship rights.

Several companies had reportedly shown interest in the title sponsorship rights, including Reliance Industries and Byju’s, among others. However, Tata Group emerged as the top bidder, with a winning bid of INR 4,000 crores (approximately $540 million) for the two-year period.

Commenting on the development, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, “We are delighted to have Tata Group on board as the title sponsor of the IPL for the next two seasons. Tata Group’s association with cricket goes back a long way, and we are confident that their expertise and experience will help take the IPL to new heights.”

For Tata Group, the sponsorship deal is a significant milestone in its long and rich history of supporting sports in India. The company has been associated with several sports events, including Formula 1, football, and hockey, among others. The IPL sponsorship deal is expected to help Tata Group enhance its brand visibility and reinforce its commitment to sports and entertainment.

In conclusion, the acquisition of the title sponsorship rights for the 2022 and 2023 IPL seasons by Tata Group is a major development for the tournament and the sports industry in India. With the support of Tata Group, the IPL is expected to continue to grow and attract a wider audience, cementing its position as one of the world’s most popular T20 leagues.
